The Neo-Futurarium
Our theater, The Neo-Futurarium, is located at 5153 N. Ashland Ave., above the Nelson Funeral Home, in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. Click here for more complete directions. The Neo-Futurarium is available for rent whenever we ain't using it. Selected weekends, Wednesday evenings and many daytime slots are often available. Contact Lindsay at (773) 878-4557 for a rental application. Here's what the space is like....
TheaterDimensions: 31 feet wide x 13 feet deep (that includes the lip, which is about 2 ½ feet deep and roughly 4 inches high). Seats: 149 Booth: Fully-equipped with light board, 2 tape decks, CD player, microphone and sufficient instruments to provide a general stage wash and have a few specials. Floor: Wood floor covered by painted masonite. Heat: This room can be very chilly in the winter. It’s heated by unpredictable radiators, over which we have no control. Air-conditioning: May be used by arrangement and may incur additional cost. It is generally too loud to run during performances, but can be used to cool the space pre-performance. Offstage areas/prop storage: Small green room and dressing room, very limited storage space. Box Office/House Management/Tech support: You must provide your own house managers, box office and tech crew. Our Technical Director will provide a one-time orientation session for your tech person. This orientation is mandatory and must occur before you begin any rehearsals in the space for a one-time fee of $40.
State Park
Available for rehearsal only, the State Park is pretty darn huge, drafty in the winter, warm in the summer, but again, huge, with a wood floor and a tiny stage. CostsPERFORMANCE: $300 per performance night. First week’s rental fee and a $125 security deposit (returned at the end of your performance run if you don’t burn down the theater, break lights, steal things, etc.) is due with your signed rental contract. After that, each week’s rental fee is due on the first day of performances for that week. REHEARSAL: $20/rehearsal hour.
