August 14 - September 19. 2008 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm "Fantastically evocative of the wilderness, bare, hypnotic, foreign... stunningly beautiful..." – Chicagoist
"Greene and Kays break new ground... Affecting... A clearheaded look at the constant struggle to keep one’s head above water." – Time Out Chicago "A brilliant piece of stylized storytelling infused with the extraordinary dialogues, monologues and creative visualizations that have made the Neo-Futurists one of the most uniquely remarkable theater companies in Chicago." - Gay Chicago Magazine "It takes skill to channel outrage into art. Greene does just that." - Daily Herald "Uniquely potent... might be my favorite show of the summer." - Chicago Tribune Written by: Sharon Greene Directed by: Halena Kays Original Score by: Mikhail Fiksel Fake Lake will be performed at Welles Park Swimming Pool, 2333 W. Sunnyside in Lincoln Square. When you come to see Fake Lake, please dress to be comfortable. Audience will be seated on bleachers around the pool. To enter the building, go past the main entrance door and look for the sandwich board reading "Fake Lake," to enter the pool door directly.
The Neo-Futurists slip into their swimsuits to tell the true story of a journey to one of the most beautiful and bizarre places in America. A group of strangers made an impulsive trip to Lake Powell, a man-made reservoir in the middle of the Utah desert with a rich and controversial history. Because much of the action in the story takes place in the water, The Neo-Futurists have created a site-specific piece to be performed in and around the Welles Park Swimming Pool in Lincoln Square. Obsessed with youth, sex and the end of invincibility, Fake Lake is a play with a Splash Zone and a deep end. ALL ADVANCE TICKETS ARE NOW SOLD OUT FOR THE RUN! Please arrive at 7:45 to be added to our waiting list or to claim balcony seats on a pay-what-you-can basis, first-come, first-served.
